Welcome to The Talk Spot

The Talk Spot offers talking tips and speech-language strategies for babies, toddlers, and school-aged children, with an emphasis on parent-coaching and empowerment. My team and I are proud supporters of play-based learning and passionate advocates for children of all abilities.

With over 10 years’ experience working with children, I have a knack for disguising therapy as play and our whole team uses this foundational approach. At The Talk Spot, we strive to make speech and language knowledge accessible to families and believe everyone should be able to access therapy conveniently.

We absolutely LOVE what we do and are devoted to serve our clients with integrity and enthusiasm.
The most rewarding aspect of our job is when children feel proud of their communication accomplishments and a family grows confidence in helping their child. Your goals are important to us!
We will work collaboratively to come up with a treatment plan that is tailored to you.

Thanks for being here, we can’t wait to work with you!

What’s your speech therapy philosophy?

Illuminate the path to communication by letting your child be the way-finder!

How did you know you were in the right profession?

Once during a session, I made up a song about our play activity. To my surprise, each parent felt compelled to join in with an impromptu verse - it was like we were The Wiggles! Seeing everyone so engaged and having fun together reminded me of how blessed I am to work in the field of speech therapy.

Ghazal Saeidi

Hello my name is Ghazal!

I obtained my post-graduate certificate in Communicative Disorders Assistant from Lambton College with honors, along with a diploma in Child and Youth Education from Fanshawe College. I have over 5 years of experience providing speech therapy services to support children with a variety of communication needs.

I have worked with children diagnosed with speech and language disorders, as well as individuals on the Autism Spectrum, in group settings, in-center, and through 1:1 therapy. I have experience working with both verbal and non-verbal learners on a range of speech, language, and communication needs. My areas of expertise include articulation, Developmental Language Disorders, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), social communication, and expressive and receptive language.

As a compassionate and caring CDA, I am dedicated to helping my clients reach their full potential. I build strong rapport with clients and their families, incorporating their interests and motivations into therapy activities to make the sessions more engaging and meaningful.

I am fluent in English and Farsi, and I provide speech therapy services in London, Ontario.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I could choose any superpower, it would be the ability to speak every language. This power would enable me to connect with people from all walks of life, regardless of their background or language. Language is a vital tool for building relationships, and by communicating with anyone, I could learn about diverse cultures, perspectives, and ideas and foster a more inclusive and harmonious world.

Do you have a favourite quote or motto that you live by?

"Progress over perfection." These three words have guided me through many aspects of my life. They remind me to focus on improving little by little rather than striving for perfection. It's about taking small steps forward and learning from mistakes instead of fearing failure. Ultimately, choosing progress helps you grow, build confidence, and move closer to your goals, one step at a time.

Karolina Donnelly

Speech-Language Pathologist

Offering: In-home services in Calgary

Service Languages: English & Polish

Hello! My name is Karolina and I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP) with a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Minot State University.

Born in Poland and raised in Calgary, I had the opportunity to appreciate language from an early age learning both Polish and English. I continued to grow a passion in communication learning and appreciating all modalities of communication, such as, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), visuals, gestures, sign language, body language, verbal expression, writing, texting, etc. Working collaboratively with families and sharing strategies to help their communication goals drives my determination to support kiddos and their families.

I look forward to meeting, connecting, and supporting families in Alberta!

What’s your speech therapy catchphrase?

Be the schwa (unstressed).

What’s your favourite childhood memory?

One of my favourite childhood memories is attending a ski training camp with my family where we and other families would hike up Parker Ridge Trail and ski down. Our dog, at the time, would enjoy running up the trail with us and chasing us while we skied. It was so fun spending time with my family and friends in the beautiful weather while skiing.

What inspired you to work in the field of speech therapy?

My inspiration to work in the field of speech therapy comes from my ongoing involvement in the disability community. Over the years, I've seen firsthand how crucial communication is in fostering social relationships, ensuring that individuals can effectively express their needs as well as advocate for themselves. I believe that all forms of communication, including augmentative methods, are vital in empowering individuals to build connections and fully participate in their communities.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?

I’m a big sports gal who practically grew up in an arena! Hockey, snowboarding, and golf are my top favourites. I’ve had the privilege of being involved in a variety of different sports growing up and continue to explore new activities in my free time. When I’m not out and about, I also enjoy baking, doing little crafts and hanging out with my dog.

Megan Taylor

Administrative Assistant

Contact: hello@thetalkspot.ca

Hi there, my name is Megan!

As I pursue my studies in business administration with a focus on accounting at SAIT, I’ve been fortunate to apply my knowledge at The Talk Spot. After completing my studies, I aspire to gain experience and knowledge as a speech-language pathologist assistant. Growing up, I loved playing imaginary games outdoors, putting on plays, and ensuring the kids felt safe and happy in my mom’s dayhome. These experiences have fueled my passion for caring for others and using play as a powerful tool for learning.

What truly fascinates me about communication is its integral role in everything we do. The ability to connect, share ideas, and understand one another is central to our interactions and relationships. This fascination drives my desire to delve deeper into the field of speech-language pathology.

I’m eager to continue working with kids and learning from them. Viewing the world through a child's eyes helps me grow both personally and professionally. In addition to my work at The Talk Spot, I provide childcare for families in my area and have been blessed to travel out of province to help families while they attend work events.

In my free time, I enjoy rock climbing, spending time in nature, and journaling. I’m here to assist with any scheduling needs and look forward to providing in-home speech and language services in the near future!
